两只蝴蝶 Two Butterflies – Panglong

Before formally launch the site, test postings need to be done, then this beautiful Chinese love song came into my mind – the Love of two butterflies. It’s always a good way to learn a new language through learning its songs – it not only familiarizes you with the natural flow of the writing, but immerses you in its culture and the way of their mind! What a romantic and faithful relationship! I always love to sing it along when the music starts, over and over…

Here are the lyrics and translation:

Translation: the love of two butterflies

Darling, fly slowly, look out for the stinging roses ahead;
darling, open your mouth, enjoy the aroma of the flowers in the wind.
Darling, follow me, let’s fly through the jungle to the stream;
darling, come and dance, there is no darkness in the spring of love.

You and I embrace each other, flying in grace; (and we) fly over the troubled world, staying together forever. (I) follow you all my life, (you) love me a thousand times; let’s not waste my tenderness and your beauty

You and I embrace each other, flying in grace; (and we) fly over the troubled world, staying together forever. Fly till the autumn winds end and the leaves pile up, I won’t regret anything, so long as I can fade together with you.

*chénzuì: enjoy deeply
*hóngchén: refer to the material world(opp. spiritual world)
