In the middle of nineteen eighties, it was still not long after the pop music was introduced to China that had only experienced a few years’ openness to the outside world. The authority hold an belief that pop music could only express personal emotions and affections which deeply saddened those young talented musicians who were like bamboo roots that had sprung out after the spring rains. So this song came into birth for the celebration of the 1986′ International Day of Peace.
More than 100 known and not-very-known singers at that time participated in the Recording and a live concert staged at Beijing’s largest football stadium – the Worker’s Stadium and it was a huge success, then made a milestone on China’s pop music history! Why it was so success? One of the reasons, probably the main reason is that the lyrics are crying out the universal longing for Love and Peace!
Here are the lyrics and translation

Note: the music in this clip is only the first part of the composition
I hold your face gently in my hands, and dry your tears.
My heart will belong to you forever, and tell me you will not be lonely.
I look into your eyes with deep emotion, no more words are needed.
I hold your hands tightly, the warmth remains unchanged.

We enjoy happiness together, we bear suffering together, we harbor the same expectations.
We experience trials and hardships together, we pursue the same ideals together, we treasure the same love.
Whether or not we knew each other, whether we were here or at opposite corners of the earth, I would still sincerely wish you happiness and peace.
While during the same period of time, the English world had the famous “We’re The World” song to hit the market. Although the language used were different, the messages are same – because we’re all God’s creation, in the bottom of our hearts we’re longing for Happiness, Care, Love and peace!
How do you like this song? How do you want to be part of the world you’re longing for? Let me know with your action!
Love and Peace
