The Un-Setting Sun Is Rising From the Grasslands

I wanted to introduce this song much earlier but couldn’t for some reasons not only because i like this beautiful old song, also because this video, I believe, may give a shock to most non-mandarin speakers, because it was sung by a young guy from an African Country – Hao GE. I was a big hit for him and from this performance, he became a star in China. By accident this song is another inner Mongolian folk tune.
From the lyrics beautiful scenes of Inner Mongolian Grasslands and a simple and grateful prairie life floating in front us. Let’s Learn the Lyrics first

Cǎoyuán Shàng Shēngqǐ Bú Luò De Tàiyang

Words:

Translation:
The Never-setting Sun Is Rising From The Grasslands

In the blue blue sky white clouds are floating,
Under the white clouds my steeds are galloping.

At the sound of my whip,
hundreds of birds are stretching their wings.

If someone asks me what place this is,
I will tell him proudly:This is my hometown.

People here love peace as they love their hometown.
We sing in praise of our new life,
we sing in praise of the Communist Party.

Chairman Mao and the Communist Party nurture our growth.
On the grassland is rising the never-setting sun.

This song was written by a well-known musician whose homeland is on The Grasslands. It was written in 1953 and became very popular, and still today. I know some people may say – Oh what? it praises the communist party? Chairman Mao? Some people may immediately turn into being negative. I would say, hold on your mind, do you really use your own mind or just ‘say what others say'(人云亦云)?

According to history records, before 1947 there were internal struggles between princes, and warlord wars within Inner Mongolia, and ordinary Mongolians were not allowed to travel outside their own leagues.Inner Mongolia was under semi-fuedal and semi-slave social system, then in 1947 it was under the control of PRC. -which was the new China founded in 1949. In this song what I can see is the new hope, and new life and the gratitude it expresses to whoever brought to the ordinary people. Because it was written in 1953 when it was the early stage of New China, however disappointed they may feel in later years, but these expressions in the song were the true voices coming from the hearts who showed their gratitude and hope with deep affection. I would not appreciate those critics or resentment towards this song which are really something laid on the critics for the wrongdoings later on in the communist party. This is what I mean we need to jump out of our own habits of behaviors if we don’t want to see tragedies in history recur.
