“Stars are sleeping, but it won’t stop me on my journey. For many years I have been living with wind and dew. For my dreams, I would rather endure loneliness, tasting my fill of solitude.
I shake off the dust of strange lands, taking the road for a long journey, to seek fervently my dreams;
Three hundred and sixty five days, year after year passes, every day is one journey…”
These are from the lyrics of the popular song The Journey of 365 Days written in the nineteen eighties by a famous and prolific song writing couple Xiaoxun and Tan Jianchang from Hongkong. It was performed on stage by many singers from 1984. A good song lasts long, Chinese saying ‘it never becomes boring even being sung hundreds of times and listened hundreds of times’ – 百听不厌/百唱不厌
The Full English Translation
Stars are sleeping, but it won’t stop me on my journey. For many years I have been living with wind and dew. For my dreams, I would rather endure loneliness, tasting my fill of solitude.
I shake off the dust of strange lands, taking the road for a long journey, to seek fervently my dreams;
Three hundred and sixty five days, year after year passes, every day is one journey.
Oh, three hundred and sixty five days, passing are the four seasons; oh, three hundred and sixty five days, how can I let them be wasted.
Oh, my brave ambition is never discouraged, and I’m still holding on to it as time passes; how many times have three hundred and sixty-five days passed since I left my home town!
Oh, three hundred and sixty-five days, from my homeland to strange lands; oh, three hundred and sixty-five days, from youth to white hair.
How many three hundred and sixty-five days are there, as the four seasons pass? Oh, three hundred and sixty-five days, how can I let them be wasted?
How many three hundred and sixty-five days are there, from my homeland to strange lands? Oh, three hundred and sixty-five days, from youth to white hair.
The long journey of three hundred and sixty-five days, I taste my fill of solitude.
